"Hoo (who) am I and what is my purpose?"
A question my 9 year old son wrote down during a message at church camp this summer! (Thank you Jesus for this sweet boy’s heart!)
How often do we ask ourselves this same question? Who are we? What is our purpose here? What is God’s will for our life?
We ask it when we’re unsure of our next steps. We ask it when something bad happens. We ask it when things are going so well that we question if we’re pushing ourselves enough to live with boldness.
Who am I, and what is my purpose?
God tells us that we are His. And our purpose here is to love Him and make His name known to the ends of the earth!
So friends, I’m writing this to ask you the same question that my 9 year old is asking himself. Who are you, and what is your purpose?
And if you’re not sure how to answer those questions, let me encourage you with what God says about you!
You are CHOSEN
1 Thessalonians 1:4 We know, dear brothers and sisters, that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own people.
You are FORGIVEN
Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.
You are LOVED
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
You are FREE
Romans 6:6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be rendered powerless so that we may no longer be enslaved to sin.
You are VICTORIOUS
Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
You are NEVER ALONE
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous; don’t be terrified or afraid of them. For the Lord your God is the one who will go with you; he will not leave you or abandon you.
Sweet friend, Jesus loves you, and desperately wants a relationship with you. And, if you’ll allow him into your life, and accept the greatest gift of all time, you’ll find your purpose. You’ll see who you are, because you’ll know WHOSE you are.
