Modeling what true repentance is to those around you is so important. In the story of Jonah we see the King of Nineveh lead his people in what truly repenting of your sins looks like. In turn we saw God relent from punishing the people of Nineveh.
Have you ever wondered if you could ever be forgiven? This message helps us know that God is a God of second chances. He has an amazing plan for your life and its waiting for you on the other side of your repentance and obedience to Him.
In our text today, we see Jonah's choice to live a self centered life finally caught up to him. He spent more time trying to avoid taking responsibility for running from the Lord than repenting and being the example the sailers needed.
In this message we see that Jonah chose to live a second rate life. But God wouldn't let him continue to live that way successfully. Just like the story of Jonah, we see that God uses the storms of our life and the people around us to lead us to live a first rate life.
As we begin our new series on the book of Jonah we realize how easy it is to judge someone too quickly. The closer we look at the story of Jonah we begin to see ourselves in the story. Our wrong attitudes are the reason we disobey God.
Prayer is the key to us winning the spiritual battles in our life. It shows our dependence on the Lord and our need for Him to show up. We learn that prayer is not complicated, it's just having a conversation with Jesus as though He's sitting right next to you.
In fighting from the place of victory we realize it takes faith. Faith isn't just a word or a belief but its an action. We link arms together to fight our battles and defeat our enemies through faith that our battle has already been won.
Fighting from victory can happen as we daily put on the armor of God. Every person has spiritual battles in their life and we are thankful the Lord provides us with the ability to win those battles.
Fighting from the place of victory starts with knowing our need for Jesus' vast strength in the battle. Our enemy is trying to deceive us in every way possible but our God gives us His armor to protect us.
